VARTEL-H

The product contains telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide in combination to treat the elevated blood pressure as high blood pressure adds load on the arteries and arteries which damages the heart, brain, kidneys etc.

Telmisartan is the ARB blocker and reduces the risk of stroke and heart failure. It blocks the effect of angiotensin and relaxes the blood pressure.

Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to the class of thiazide diuretic. It is available in combination with the other antihypertensive drug for the treatment of hypertension. It prevents reabsorption of sodium and water from the distal convoluted tubule.

Mechanism of action-

Telmisartan inhibit the AT1 receptors and blocks the angiotensin mediated actions such as vasoconstriction, cardiac conduction.
Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits the Sodium chloride symporter present on the distal convoluted tubule and prevents the reabsorption of sodium and chloride.

It is absorbed orally
It is 95% bound to plasma proteins
It undergoes glucuronidation
It is excreted via feces

Hydrochlorothiazide-
It is absorbed orally
It is 40-50% bound to plasma proteins
It does not show any metabolism
It is excreted via urine
